Citronella Oil CAS 8000-29-1

Citronella oil, also known as male jatropha oil or vanilla oil. It is an essential oil obtained from the whole grass of citronella or citronella by steam distillation. A light yellow to light brownish yellow clear flowing liquid with a characteristic aroma resembling citronellal, while the Ceylon oil aroma is coarse and poor. Insoluble in glycerol and propylene glycol, soluble in most volatile oils, mineral oils, and ethanol. Java type oil: relative density 0.880-0.895 (20/20 ℃), refractive index 1.466-1.473. Ceylon type Chemicalbook oil: relative density 0.894~0.910 (20/20 ℃), refractive index 1.479~1.487. The main components are citronellal (Java type: 35%~45%; Ceylon type: 5%~16%), geraniol (Java type: 85%; Ceylon type: 60%), citronellol, citral, eugenol, vanillin, eugenoids, butanediones, benzaldehyde, methyl heptenone, juniper terpenes, isovaleraldehyde, vanillic acid and its esters, etc.
